Socials
In Socials today students worked on their Neanderthal writing assignment. All students should have handed in their good copy. Students will then make some improvements on their writing, including dressing up their word choice to make their writing more descriptive. We will be sending their final draft home for parents to see what we have been working on in both English and Socials so far this year.
English
In English, we did our first official day of The Six Minute Solution, a reading fluency program we will be continuing throughout the year. We also practiced using descriptive language, some students really had fun with this! We then read Chapter 10 in Touching Spirit Bear. Students were thoroughly grossed out by Cole's choice of food! Be sure to ask your son/daughter for details!
Assessment
Students should have brought home a Social Studies assessment to share with you. This will give you an idea of how your son/daughter is doing so far in Socials. The assignment challenged students to use their knowledge of early humans to assess how fire could have been used as a technology. Please go over this with your son/daughter, sign the assessment and return as soon as possible.
